Bus Bridging Services
In collaboration with MIT’s SMART (Singapore Massachusetts Alliance for Research and Technology), the Singapore ETH Center, as well as UCL Berkeley BEARS, we combined CityMoS with Numerical Optimisation for the planning and evaluation of different bus bridging plans in a hypothetical subway disruption scenario.

Shuttle Buses
In projects with German Automotive Supplier ZF and TUMCREATE, Singapore, we demonstrated how CityMoS can be used to support the planning, the deployment and the optimisation of electric shuttle bus systems. How much would commuters benefit from these new corridors or modes? When and where should the electric shuttle buses charge? And how does that all fit in the existing public transport system? CityMoS can help to derive these conclusions and enable informed decision making.

It provides highly detailed insights into the energy demand, battery state, and charging demand of e-buses for an entire bus transportation network, down to the level of individual vehicles and charging stations.

Singapore Integrated Transport and Energy Model
SITEM supports Singapore’s planning for the transition to electric vehicles nationwide. SITEM is used to conduct a comprehensive analysis of projected EV charging patterns and energy demand, while integrating multiple aspects of mobility and energy modelling, including movements of individual vehicles, drivers’ charging decisions, and the interaction of EV charging demand with electricity grid capacity.

Modelling for Singapore
The Cooling Singapore, a program by the Singapore ETH Centre in collaboration with NUS, TUMCREATE, SMART, SMU and CARES, focuses on tackling the urban heat island effect – the artificial warming in cities caused by humans and man-made infrastructure. With CityMoS. we modelled to what extent traffic contributes to an increased temperature in Singapore.

CiLoCharging
In the City Logistics Charging Project (CiLoCharging), CityMoS is used to support the planning of a newly built logistics terminal. CityMoS serves as a digital twin to study potential fleet compositions, different task assignments, evaluation of charging management, as well as the feasibility of the approach with respect to available power grid capacity.

MoVES Lab
CityMoS is a next-generation transport planning tool which incorporates high-performance computing techniques to offer microscopic detail at city-scale. The digital twin platform is further enhanced in the MoVES lab, a partnership with Huawei to conduct cutting-edge research that will enhance transport system simulation and improve urban planning in smart cities.
